Tom is a lifelong and passionate sailor who started racing dinghies in Southern Africa at age 10, and continued racing offshore after moving to Portsmouth, UK where he served as an engineer in the British Merchant Navy. He carried out sailboat deliveries around the UK and in the Mediterranean in his spare time. Currently a US Coast Guard Captain, he continues to deliver boats and cruise fairly extensively in US and international waters.
A career in technology brought Tom to the Mid-Western United States where he also took part in sailboat racing and several Chicago to Mackinaw Island races. After that, he set his sights on the Bay Area, heading up customer service, sales and business development for several Tech Start-Ups.
He currently serves on the board of the San Francisco Maritime National Park Association, a non-profit focused on getting more people to enjoy San Francisco’s waterfront and its maritime heritage.
Working at JK3 Yachts provides Tom with a great opportunity to combine his ‘Start Up’ technical and professional skills with his experience and passion for the sea, helping clients identify and acquire their ideal boat and prepare for their next big adventure or to simply cruise the Bay.
