The interior belies her raceboat capabilities. Cabinetry is abundant and attractively finished in varnished cherry with laminated, curved trim. Accommodations for six are provided.
A large forward cabin has a double berth. Beneath is a storage locker with a gas strut that opens the panel. There are storage lockers above on each side of the hull and a shelved locker on starboard, plus hanging locker to port. A privacy door has vents on top and bottom. The sole is fiberglass and has a drain, making it a great place to stow wet sails and gear. There are 2 hatches-a large one over the berth and a smaller one forward of the cabin door.
The main cabin has an L-shaped settee to port with 3 storage lockers above. A straight settee is to starboard. Each settee sleeps one. A center drop-leaf table has slide-out drawers aft of the mast. The forward facing nav station on port has a large hinged lid and storage beneath the seat. There is lower-level lighting everywhere plus 9 overhead lights on a rheostat control. A hatch is just aft of the mast. Teak & holly sole.
Aft of the nav table is the head and shower compartment with a tri-panel water shield and seat. It drains via an auto sump pump. A large door opens into the lazarette. The sink faucet doubles as a shower wand. The head is a Jabsco manual unit. 3 overhead lights plus opening port give light and ventilation.
Aft of the galley is the roomy aft cabin with a large hanging locker, 3 opening ports, privacy door and double berth. Access to the back of the engine is via a movable panel.
The galley is located starboard next to the companionway. Corian countertops surround a deep sink with pressure faucet and foot pump. The large ice box is 2 levels and has a drain in the bottom. Cooking is handled by a Force 10 two burner gimbaled LPG stove/oven with a 5# tank in a cockpit locker. The waste can tilts out and there are 3 lockers and 3 drawers for storing provisions.
Safety Gear: (1) Type IV horseshoe PFD, (12) Type III PFD's, (1) Type IV cushion, (8) Type II PFD's. A Xintex propane fume detector is in the galley. (3) A/B/C fire extinguishers.
Sails, Standing and Running Rigging
Warp Speed's sail inventory consists of a main done in Kevlar (2010), 2 jibs-a 110% Aramid and 90% Aramid (both 2009 by North), 2 spinnakers-a .75 oz (2005) and a 1.5 oz (2006) both by North. The original main and jib are also aboard-offshore Kevlar units.
The carbon-fiber mast (new 2010) has been co-engineered by C&C Yachts and SP, the world leader in composite engineering and materials technology. Built by Novis Composites, the mast is less than half the weight of a comparable aluminum mast yet is stiffer and stronger. The weight saved aloft adds to stability and reduces pitching moment maximizing her performance. Forestay, shrouds and backstay are Powerlite PBO by Navtec new in 2010.
The headsail setup has a Harken Mk IV lightweight roller furler that comes with the boat (not mounted). Sheets run to Harken line-adjustable fairlead cars on housetop tracks set at 8.5 degrees for tight upwind sheeting angles. Offwind performance is optimized with a Harken spinnaker pole on a stanchion mount, and attaches to a Harken mast track and car when in use. A Forespar spring-loaded vang supports the boom, and the main halyard does the job when at rest. The topping lift is coiled up inside the boat. For daysailing or cruising, there are plenty of options for sailing with an asymmetrical spinnaker whether in a snuffer or not.
All lines lead aft to 2 banks of 6 rope clutches. A Sailtec hydraulic backstay has the control mounted at the pedestal base. The Harken traveler is mounted just forward of the wheel. Harken snatch blocks and turning blocks guide sheets and 2 pairs of Harken 46 winches line each side of the cockpit. There is 1 Harken 40 winch on each side of the companionway.
Electronics and Instruments
At the companionway: TackTick speed / depth / heading / wind speed / timer, all on a single battery-powered display. A Raymarine Micronet Maxi provides backup data.
At the mast is another TackTick instrument mount, a triple display with wind / speed / depth plus extra functions and a handheld remote to change display data.
At the nav table is a Icom IC-M422 VHF and a Wi-Fi access port.
The battery switch and AC/DC panels are at the nav station. (2) Group 27 batteries are located beneath the port settee. The charger is an Intelli Power PD2030 unit. There is a ProSafe 30A galvanic isolator on the shore power.
There are 9 AC outlets scattered throughout the boat.
Hull & Construction
With her epoxy resin, e-glass, and CoreCell core post-cured hull laminate, vinylester resin infusion deck, and a carbon-fiber mast as standard equipment, the 115 maintains high octane performance ratios. Her epoxy hull laminate consists of an all uni-directional e-glass structural laminate locally reinforced with uni-directional carbon fiber and sandwiched on CoreCell linear urethane foam coring. Building the laminate this way produces the lightest, strongest, and stiffest structure possible and the weight saved can be used for interior appointments and additional ballast further enhancing the 115's performance and livability. The bulbed 4,200-lb lead keel has an extremely low center of gravity producing a high righting moment. Rudder modification done with a with a custom milled Delrin sleeve.
The infusion deck's laminate is structured from unidirectional e-glass, Baltek AL 600 coring, and a custom-blended vinylester resin. Wide side decks with molded-in non-skid provide safe and secure maneuvering in a seaway. The signature slash-style portlights and classic C&C styling makes the 115 a head-turner in any harbor. The cockpit puts comfort and function first. The helmsman sits at a wrap-around helmseat that flips up to one side via a gas-assist strut onto the open transom, with a ss telescoping swim ladder. The 60" wheel lies within fingertip reach. The cockpit seats are over 6 feet long and have high seat backs for comfort. The companionway has a clear overhead slider and 2 resin panels. Toerail and stanchion design maximize on deck space and offer a necessary toehold, coupled with uncoated lifelines when moving forward in challenging conditions. A huge lazarette on the port side of the cockpit contains the water heater, line hangers, 4 fenders and lots of room for sails and other gear.
Ground tackle consists of a Fortress FX-11 anchor on a chain and rope rode, lying in a deep chain locker.
Engine and Propellor
Yanmar SD20 diesel engine with approximately 435 hours coupled to a sail-drive unit. A 2-blade Gori folding prop.
The throttle/transmission control lever is removable for safety. Access to the engine bay is beneath the companionway steps and a movable panel in the aft cabin.
